I notice from my clinical experiences that people with low self-esteem and self-worth often display other psychological and emotional problems, such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders and relationship problems.
This is because self-esteem would affect the way we treat ourselves and how we are treated by others. Imagine that you have thoughts or feelings that you are not good enough or not worthy of having great things in life, this can translate into behaviours based on this self-perception. Then you are likely to have a hard time to set healthy personal boundaries and express your needs in a confident manner, as a result it will affect your interpersonal relationship and your wellbeing.
